Champions of Toxics Use Reduction Awards

For more than 10 years, TURI has been recognizing community and industry organizations with the "Champions of Toxics Use Reduction" award at an annual Massachusetts State House ceremony. These Champions are making the Commonwealth a safer place to live and work. Legislators personally congratulate companies, community organizations, and individuals for promoting safer alternatives to toxic chemicals and more efficient processes.

In June 2012, TURI presented the "Champions of Toxics Use Reduction" award to the following organizations and researcher:

  • Independent Plating, Worcester
  • King & Queen Cleaners, Milford
  • Brazilian's Women's Group, Allston
  • Montachusett Opportunity Council, Fitchburg
  • Norfolk 7 Public Health Coalition
  • Pioneer Valley Planning Commission, Springfield
  • Associate Professor Dan Schmidt of UMass Lowell
