Industry: Call for 25th Anniversary Leaders

Celebrating 25 years of Toxics Use Reduction

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Toxics Use Reduction Act (TURA) program, we are recognizing:

  • Massachusetts companies that are realizing economic growth while protecting health and the environment through Toxics Use Reduction (TUR).
  • Massachusetts organizations that have achieved TUR in their communities.

Criteria for Selection

Please fill out a brief application if your company or organization meets any of the following criteria (you could also nominate an organization):

  • Planned and implemented TUR projects that saved money, protected workers, increased competitiveness.
  • Planned and implemented resource conservation improvements in energy, water or solid waste.
  • Leader in a sector such as electronics, manufacturing, pharmaceutical sciences, biotechnology, dry cleaning, janitorial, metal finishing, or green building.
  • Partnered with the TURI Lab, a UMass Lowell researcher or the Office of Technical Assistance to find safer alternatives.
  • Reduced the use of Higher Hazard Substances, asthmagens or carcinogens.
  • If your company was recognized as a 20th Anniversary Leader, you’ve made more progress in reducing toxics within the last five years.

The TURA Program is planning to celebrate achievements with a statewide series of short ceremonies and site visits from February to March 2015.

These events will be a great opportunity for your company or organization to showcase TUR innovation and leadership to employees, colleagues, communities, legislators and government officials.

We are looking for your story of how TUR has helped your company compete globally, cut costs and met or exceeded customer expectations.

Applications are due by October 31, 2014. A committee will review all applications and respond by December 5, 2014. We expect to honor 12 to 15 organizations across the state.
