Facilities with mature TUR planning efforts may choose to utilize their Environmental Management Systems (EMS) in lieu of bi-annual TUR Planning. This course is designed to give TUR Planners the knowledge they need to certify that a company's EMS satisfies the requirements of the Toxics Use Reduction Act (TURA). The first day will familiarize the participants with the elements of EMS as it relates to TUR planning. The course will then focus on the specific requirements of the TURA EMS and consider examples of source reduction policies and initiatives that should be incorporated into the TURA EMS. Small group activities will give participants an opportunity to evaluate TURA EMS examples for conformance to the requirements of the Act. Participants will be required to complete homework assignments between course dates as an integral part of the completion of this class.
