Friday November 01 2013 - Resource Conservation Planning Basics – Day One

Friday, November 1, 2013
8:30am-4:00pm
Courtyard by Marriott, Marlborough
75 Felton Street
Marlborough, MA  01752

The Toxics Use Reduction Act Amendments of 2006 build on the TURA program's success by focusing attention on additional ways to improve environmental and financial performance. These include adopting TUR analysis techniques to optimize use of water, energy, and other resources, as well as encouraging TUR filers to reduce their use of toxics below TURA thresholds and of substances outside TURA's scope. Together, these areas comprise Resource Conservation. These trainings are designed to meet the continuing education requirements for TUR Planner Resource Conservation planning certification.

This workshop will familiarize TUR Planners with the objectives, methods, and requirements of Resource Conservation Planning options available under the 2006 Toxics Use Reduction Act (TURA) Amendments.  This course must be taken first, but only once, and will fulfill the initial 6 credits required to certify a Resource Conservation Plan.

Agenda:

  •  Introduction
  •  Review of TUR planning process
  •  Overview of TURA amendments and RC regulations
  •  Doing an RC plan, using the guidance; a case study on energy
  •  A look at other assets: conserving water, reducing materials in solid waste, reducing non-listed substances and toxics below TURA thresholds
