EPA and the new TSCA – Stakeholders push agency in divergent directions

  As the U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) begins work under the Lautenberg Chemical Safety Act for the 21st Century (LCSA) – the updated Toxic Substances Control Act – more striking divisions are emerging between what environmental health advocates and what chemical manufacturing and industry groups want from the law.

Local restaurants implement new, less-toxic cleaning supplies

  Through a collaborative project with the Greenfield Health Department, three local restaurants and two schools are now using less-toxic chemicals to sanitize their equipment.

Lowell brewery to receive UMass Lowell grant

  Dec. 10, 2015 -- Merrimack Ales in Lowell, owned by Adam Pearson, received a grant in the amount of $3,500 to test how well chemical activation technology works for cleaning and sanitizing equipment used during the beer brewing process. If effective, the technology could eliminate, or greatly reduce, the use of caustic sodium hydroxide and the follow on acids.
