Research on Flame Retardant Alternative Wins EPA Award

  A research project funded by TURI studied a safer alternative - cashew nut oil - for flame retardants. The students and faculty won an EPA award. Planet Forward created a video about their research.

‘Electronic’ Tongue, Green Cleaners Featured at Event

  The Green Cleaners project to find an alternative to nonylphenol ethoxylates in detergents is a partnership between UMass Lowell professors and Alpha Chemicals of Stoughton, and it is funded by the Toxics Use Reduction Institute.

Health departments of 6 towns join to improve safety in nail salons

  The Norwood Health Department is partnering with five other towns as the Norfolk County 7 Public Health Coalition in its newest project, “Greening Nail Salons for Employees and Communities.” This is funded through the TURI community grant.
