Bio Based Floor Finish Stripping and Hard Surface Cleaning Project
Bio-Based Product Testing for Hospital Maintenance
The purpose of this project was to evaluate bio-based replacements at a VA Hospital against products currently in used at that facility. The first phase evaluated a heavy duty floor finish stripper. The second phase evaluated hard surface cleaning products. Both phases were based on the preliminary laboratory testing previously at the facility.
During the six months of the VA Hospital Floor Stripping project, successful biobased floor finish strippers were identified and proven to work both in the laboratory and in the field. The top performing biobased product, Bio-Kleen Super Stripper, was available at a reasonable cost as compared to the current non-biobased floor stripper and provided a noticeable improvement in the area of environmental, health and safety.
Floor Before Stripping
Floor After Bio-based Floor Stripping
During the eight months of the VA Hospital Hard Surface Cleaning project, successful bio-based cleaners were identified and proven to work both in the laboratory and in the field and were available at a reasonable cost as compared to the current non-bio-based hard surface cleaning. From the piloting, there were five products that were successful. The top two products were Bio-Kleen BKP 130 and the Clean Environment Company Super Citrus Clean.
