Learning with Purpose

The Toxics Use Reduction Institute employs students to work in the Institute’s research laboratory evaluating the performance of green cleaners for industrial, janitorial and household uses.

Come be a part of the solution for a safer environment. Help companies reduce their environmental impact by replacing hazardous solvents with safer, environmentally friendlier alternatives.

DUTIES:

Assist in performing laboratory experiments to evaluate performance of alternative cleaning chemistries and cleaning processes

Document lab activity and experimental results in a laboratory notebook

Input results of testing into database for commercially available cleaning products and equipment

Assist in the collection and filing of MSDS and other product literature

Perform in-depth literature review and research into chemical uses and applicable alternatives for hazardous solvents

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in a laboratory setting desired, but not required

Background in chemistry, science or engineering preferred, but willing to train interested and motivated candidates

Computer knowledge in MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint

The ability to work independently as well as in a fast paced group environment a must
