Lead Alternatives and Testing for Restricted Substances Supply Chain Workshop and EPA DfE Program Stakeholder Meeting

We are inviting you and any of your colleagues to participate in the latest in a series of meetings for the coated wire and cable industry, their suppliers, and their customers. The workshop will focus on alternatives to lead stabilizers and testing materials for restricted substances, and will feature information on new materials and research, as well as perspectives on materials restrictions and testing from prominent OEMs. We are pleased to have Scott O’Connell from Dell, Inc. joining us to share information about their Materials Supply Chain Management Program; this will be followed by information on analytical methods from their testing laboratory.

The meeting is being graciously hosted by Bose Corporation, in Framingham, MA. We will begin with registration and coffee at 8:00 AM. Jack Bailey of Bose will welcome us at 8:30, and provide a demonstration of their phenomenal audio system! The technical workshop will run from 9:00 AM until 2:30 PM, and will include lunch.

Following the workshop, we are pleased to welcome Kathy Hart from the Environmental Protection Agency’s Design for the Environment Program. EPA is considering the possibility of assisting the wire and cable supply chain by sponsoring an evaluation of the environmental impacts of alternative materials. Everyone is welcome to attend this meeting and participate in the discussion of possible focus areas for evaluation. EPA needs to have a commitment from the industry to participate in order to proceed with the project.

We hope that you will be able to join us, and encourage you to invite your suppliers and customers to the meeting. The challenges facing your industry can only be met through participation of the entire supply chain. If you have suggestions on other companies or colleagues that might be interested in attending, please let us know or feel free to forward this invitation.

Please, e-mail, fax or mail back the registration form by Friday, March 19 to confirm your participation. Please also note that due to budget cuts, we are forced to charge a registration fee of $75 for the workshop. The fee can either be mailed in or paid at the day of the event. A final agenda and directions will be sent to confirmed participants.

We are looking forward to seeing you on March 23rd. If you have any additional questions or comments, please contact:
