On March 6, 2003, the Toxics Use Reduction Institute is offering a continuing education opportunity for TUR Planners during the final day of the upcoming TUR Planner Course. This training is jointly sponsored and DEP has approved this event for double credit, making each half day worth six credits. Attendance at a full day will be worth 12 credits. These credits may be used to apply to DEP for recertification. You may attend the morning session and/or one of the afternoon sessions.
MORNING SESSION, 9:00-12:00
Perspectives on the Role of a TUR Planner
(One session)
This single session will present challenges, pitfalls, and opportunities faced by TUR Planners from three different planner perspectives: (a) DEP What does DEP look for during an inspection of a TUR Plan? (b) Consultant What pitfalls does an outside consultant face when hired by a company to complete a plan or a plan update? (c) Industry Where do you find the information you need to update or develop a TUR Plan?
AFTERNOON SESSION, 1:00-4:00 Practical Applications in TUR
(Choose one of three)
- Convincing the Unconvinceable Learn tools and methods to promote corporate culture changes associated with implementing TUR practices.
- High Priority Chemicals Learn what the Massachusetts TUR Program is doing to focus its policy, outreach and technical assistance efforts on six priority substances: lead, mercury, antimony, arsenic, trichloroethylene (TCE), and dioxin.
- Developing an Environmental Management System (EMS) from a TUR Framework Learn how the TUR planning model can be modified and enhanced to develop a lasting EMS, and what the advantages and benefits are for doing so.
