Lean & Clean - Multiplying Lean Benefits- Seeing All Wastes
March 20, 2007- 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

The workshop will include an interactive lean simulation to demonstrate lean principles, a discussion on the value of integrating lean and clean, and training on how to apply clean manufacturing to lean tools.

Workshop Objectives:

  • Understand the environmental performance implications of Lean trends and the connections between Lean and Clean Manufacturing approaches to process improvement
  • Learning to see additional opportunities for savings in materials, energy, water and utility consumption, or pollution prevention/mitigation
  • Introduction to the Environmental Protection Agency Lean and Environment Tool Kit, which integrates environmental factors into lean initiatives bridging the gap for reducing and eliminating all forms of waste

Lean manufacturing is a business model that emphasizes eliminating waste, non-value added activities, while delivering quality products at the least cost to the manufacturer and customers. Lean practitioners are trained to recognize traditional process waste streams, but may overlook additional savings in materials, energy, water and utility consumption, or pollution prevention/mitigation. This workshop will provide practical strategies and tools for integrating environmental considerations into Lean initiatives.
