Wet Cleaning Demonstration Day

When: Sunday, October 14, 2007, Noon-4PM, lunch provided

Where: Wannalancit Mill Building, 600 Suffolk Street, Lowell, and the Lowell National Historic Park Maintenance Facility for the demonstration.

What: A Wet Cleaning Demonstration for dry cleaning facilities in Massachusetts. Sponsored by the Toxics Use Reduction Institute and Northeast Fabricare Association, the event will focus on replacing perchloroethylene with a wet cleaning alternative. To register, contact Joy Onasch, 978-934-4343, joy@turi.org.

The purpose of the event is to demonstrate to cleaners in MA that wet cleaning is a viable alternative and by switching, they can improve worker health and safety, reduce odor issues, protect environmental resources, reduce utility usage and costs, and limit liability.

Cleaners from California will be on hand to actually run the equipment and answer questions about their experience with the wet cleaning equipment. Your questions about water use, energy savings, and labor time will be answered! Information about economic incentives will also be presented.
