Environmental Management Systems (EMS) for Planners
January 30, 2008 and February 5, 2008; two day training in Boxborough, MA
(16 credits) Both days are required
This course is designed to give TUR Planners the knowledge they need to certify that a company’s TURA EMS satisfies the requirements of the Act. Participants will be familiarized with the basic elements of an environmental management system and the TURA EMS. Small group activities will give participants an opportunity to more deeply understand these elements. The second day of the training will focus on internal EMS auditing skills, so that participants are able to assess whether the system’s internal audit program is sufficient to ensure that the TURA EMS satisfies the requirements of the Act. A primary focus will be on the EMS Progress Report, which is what companies will submit to MassDEP to certify that TURA EMS satisfies the requirements. Participants will be asked to complete homework assignments between course dates as an integral part of the completion of this class.

Fill out and return the registration form with your check made out to UMass Lowell to the Toxics Use Reduction Institute by January 10, 2008.
The registration will not be complete and the space will not be held until payment and the registration form are received. Seating is limited. Attendance will be tracked to assure that planners receive a certificate of completion for workshop attended.

Cancellations:
Cancellations must be received 5 business days before the event. January 30, 2008 (and February 5th) EMS for Planners must be received by January 23, 2008. Cancellations received 5 days before the event will receive a credit for the registration fee that may be used for a future event. There will be no credit given for cancellations less then 5 days before the event. Mail cancellations to:
