Toxics Use Reduction Planning Course:
Effective Planning for Long Term Results
Toxics Use Reduction (TUR) is about protecting workers, communities and the environment, while promoting competitiveness through efficient materials use and management. It presents a systematic approach to identify waste and inefficiencies, compare and implement opportunities to reduce toxics, and continually improve a TUR program. The course will also present detailed information about how to modify and certify an existing TUR plan. |

About the course format
The class meets every Thursday for 7 weeks, starting September 18 through October 30, 2003. Two 3-hour modules are presented each day, with a 45-minute break in between for lunch, and approximately one hour at the end of the day for group work and assignments (in lieu of "homework"). The course is designed and facilitated by the Toxics Use Reduction Institute. Each module is taught by one of a team of experienced instructors - most of whom represent industries - who use a mix of lecture, facilitated discussion and group learning techniques. The course features a real-world case study exercise, and an on-site visit to a facility with notable TUR successes.
