Launched by the Ford Foundation and the John F. Kennedy School of Government in 1986, Innovations in American Government is now a significant force in recognizing and promoting excellence and creativity in the public sector. Through its annual awards competition, Innovations in American Government draws attention to exemplary achievements in government problem solving, amplifies the voices of public innovators in communicating their practices, and serves as a catalyst for transforming creative and effective ideas into widely established best practices.
