Jan Hutchins is Manager of the TURI Library. In that role she guides researchers on information retrieval strategies, focusing on pollution prevention, industrial processes, chemicals, environmental policy, environmental management, and environmental protection. Ms. Hutchins has over 20 years experience in the environmental field, working at the state and local level and in private consulting. Her skills include managing planning and research studies, supervising environmental permitting projects, and writing and editing environmental impact documentation. Prior to joining TURI, she was Assistant Director of the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act Office in the Commonwealth’s Executive Office of Environmental Affairs, with involvement in over 3000 environmental impact reviews. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan School of Natural Resources and Environment, a Master’s degree in Urban Affairs from Boston University, and a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from Simmons College
