Supply Chain Program
The various companies involved in bringing a product from raw materials to its final form constitute a supply chain. In changing the product or process design to achieve toxics use reduction, communication along the supply chain can support success.
TURI has convened supply chain meetings with various industry sectors in a popular and continuing series of working meetings to learn about new trade issues and technologies, and to design new products to be competitive in changing markets. Industry sector supply chains that have been particularly focused on are electronics and coated wire and cable.
Both of these industry sectors face technical and economic challenges associated with complying with various global regulatory efforts, including the EU Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) Directive, the EU Restriction on certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive, and related initiatives from other countries. In addition, suppliers must be aware of the various State initiatives that may impact their use of certain materials in the manufacture of their products.
TURI is committed to assisting industry supply chains in being proactive to reduce their use of toxic chemicals, comply with national and international restrictions, and maintain economic competitiveness.
