1- Cutting Fluid - Steco Corp, Tap Magic Protap (112-80-1, 112-62-9) Thirteen products were tested on this cutting fluid. Ten alkaline aqueous products were successful when using mechanical agitation and/or immersion cleaning. Unsuccessful product classifications: Alkaline Aqueous-1, Neutral Aqueous 2 (ultrasonics). 2- Coating - Ferrocote 5815 LVO Twelve products were tested on this coating. One alkaline aqueous, hydrocarbon, organic and semi-aqueous products successful. Unsuccessful classifications: Acidic Aqueous-1, Alkaline Aqueous-5, Ester-1. Comparison
1- Grease - CRC Sta-Plex Premium Red Grease (64742-65-0, 64741-96-4, 15337-18-5, 7620-77-1) Not previously tested
2- Grease -Daubert Chemical Co Tectyl 891 Class I cosmoline grease (8052-41-3, 68918-69-4, 64742-65-0, 68608-26-4) Not previously tested
1- Lubricant - ELF Lubricants Nevastone Safeguard 6 Food Machinery lube oil(64742-47-8, 8042-47-5, 9003-29-6) Thirteen products were used successfully on this lubricant using immersion cleaning. Only one alkaline aqueous product was unsuccessful. Successful product classifications: Alkaline Aqueous-5, Caustic-2, Enzymatic/Microbial-1, Organic-2, Petroleum Distillate-1, Terpene-1. Comparison
2- Oil - Citgo Quenching Oil 22 (64741-89-5, 8052-42-4) Six products were tested on this quench oil. Two neutral aqueous products were unsuccessful using ultrasonic cleaning. Non-Metal Working Fluids
1- Adhesive - Ashland Chemical Acrylic Sealant 5504 (108-88-3, 141-78-6, 142-82-5, 67-63-0) Nineteen products were found unsuccessful in removing this adhesive. The products were from the following classifications: alcohol-1, alkaline aqueous-13, ester-1, organic-1 and petroleum distillates-3. Toluene; Comparison
2- Adhesive - Insta-Cure adhesive (7085-85-0), Insta-Set (64742-89-8, 99-97-8) Eight products were tested on this adhesive. Two neutral aqueous products were found successful by causing the adhesive to peel off. The other unsuccessful products were from the following classifications: Alcohol-1, Alkaline Aqueous-2, Ester-2 and Organic-1. Acetone
1- Buffing compound - Jackson Lea LM 12 Antique buffing compound (9000-70-8, 1344-28-1, 409-21-2, 1309-37-1) Six products were tested on this buffing compound. Four alkaline aqueous products were effective and two were not. All used immersion cleaning. Trichloroethylene
2- Buffing compound - Matchless Metal Polish Company Z-250 Buffing Compound (7429-90-5) Four alkaline aqueous products were successful in removing this buffing compound using immersion cleaning. Trichloroethylene
1- Coating - Emerson & Cuming Eccocoat CC 40A Solvent based conductive coating (7440-22-4, 108-88-3, thermoplastic resin) Three products were tested on this coating. All three were unsuccessful. Classification: Alcohol-1, Petroleum Distillate-2. Methyl Ethyl Ketone
1- Flux - Kester Solder 1544 Rosin Solder flux (64-17-5, 78-92-2, 8050-09-7) Thirty-four products were evaluated for this flux. Fifteen alkaline aqueous and 3 terpene-organics were successful when using ultrasonics and immersion cleaning processes. 2- Flux - Alpha 615 RMA flux (67-63-0, 8052-41-3, 8050-09-7) Eleven products were tested on this flux using ultrasonics and/or immersion/soak. Nine products were successful: Alcohol-3, Alkaline Aqueous-3, Ester-1, Petroleum Distillate-2. 1- Ink - Cerdec Magenta (119-64-2, 65997-18-4, 1345-24-0, 20667-12-3) Sixteen products were evaluated for this ink using ultarsonics, immersion/soak and/or manual wiping. Successful products classifications: Alkaline Aqueous-1, Ester-2, Organic-3, Terpene-2. Unsuccessful product classifications: Alkaline Aqueous-1, Hydrocarbon-1, Organic-3, Terpene-Orgainc-1. 2- Ink - Sheetfed Offset Inks Super Tech Dense Black AD 2340 Two petroleum distillate products were used successful on this ink using manual wiping. Comparison
1- Paint - Bowman Distribution Semi Gloss Black Enamel (67-64-1, 1330-20-7, 64-17-5, 763-69-9, 78-93-3, 141-78-6, 68476-86-8) Two alkaline aqueous products were used unsuccessfully on this paint using manual wiping. Comparison
2- Paint - Glidden Paint Company Ultra Hide Alkyd semi gloss paint (136-52-7, 1317-65-3, 1332-58-7, 66402-68-4, 8052-41-3, 64742-88-7, 71-43-2, 13463-67-7, 68604-95-5, 66070-62-0, 67746-05-8) 1 Terpene-semi-aqueous product was used successfully on this paint using manual wiping. Comparison
1- Resin - Ashland Specialty Chemical Co, Acrylic Resin, Aroset 1872 Z 40 (108-88-3, 141-78-6, 142-82-5, 67-63-0) Twenty-four products were tested on this resin using immersion cleaning. 2- Resin – Solutia Gelva Multipolymer Solution 2895 (5086-46-9, 141-786, 142-82-5, 67-63-0, 64-17-5, 108-05-4) Forty-four products were used on this resin using immersion cleaning. One terpene was successful. 1- Wax – Beeswax Twenty-five products were tested on this wax using immersion and/or ultrasonic cleaning processes. Three Alkaline aqueous and 5 terpenes were successful in removing the wax. 2- Wax - Roger Reed 93114 Wax, Hyrdocarbon waxes Five products were evaluated for removal of this wax. One Organic and 2 terpenes were successful using immersion cleaning process. Two Organic products were unsuccessful. Trichloroethylene & Acetone & Methanol
