1. Alternative Products and Green Chemistry
- Paul Anastas, Ph.D. (Yale Center for Green Chemistry and Green Engineering) and
- John Warner, Ph.D. UMass-Lowell Center for Green Chemistry.
Green Chemistry (and the related area of Green Engineering) is a movement to train chemists and engineers in the principles of designing and utilizing safer chemicals by including environmental and occupational effects as essential criteria in the design phase, and has profound implications for business and universities. In addition, the conference will feature pioneers in sustainable business models (including keynote speaker Ray Anderson, the founder of Interface Corp.), and provide information on rapidly changing international chemical policies that will affect businesses in terms of exporting products and labeling chemicals.
For more information go to the conference website at http://www.oehc.uchc.edu/uconnconference.asp. The conference will be held at the Northeast Utilities conference center in Berlin, CT.
