Training for Certification

The core function of TURI's educational efforts is to train managers to become certified Toxics Use Reduction Planners.  The TUR planner course is 48 hours long and is held at varying locations throughout the state with one or two training days per week.  The material covered  provides participants with the knowledge and skills to achieve TUR planning within their facilities.  Content includes:

  • NEW--Introduction to Environmental Management Systems
  • Toxics Use Reduction Act and regulations
  • TUR incentives and priorities
  • Process characterization
  • Materials accounting
  • Worker health and safety
  • Cost of toxics
  • TUR options identification and evaluation
  • Financial analysis
  • Communication and implementation
