Fall Continuing Education Conference (Virtual)

In an effort to provide TUR Planners with toxics use reduction training opportunities, the TURA Program has created a series of five 90-minute virtual sessions for a total of up to 15 credits awarded. Register for each individual session that you wish to attend.  Once you have registered, scroll down to the bottom of this page to choose the payment link that reflects the number of sessions you will attend and the appropriate fee rate.

Session A: Lean Manufacturing and TUR:  Two great things that go well together!

Lean manufacturing is a time-honored method of improving productivity and efficiency in various production processes. Integrating toxics use reduction into the lean manufacturing method can improve your facility's overall performance, including protection of worker health and safety. Hear from lean manufacturing experts about the process and the opportunities.

Session B:  Fundamentals: Building a Creative TUR Team

The makeup and creativity of your TUR Team can make or break a Planner’s ability to identify and advocate for technically and economically feasible options to reduce the facility’s use of toxic chemicals. In this session we’ll explore best practices for identifying the right stakeholders to include on your team and will also look at methods for identifying options that go beyond brainstorming. We’ll kick off this session hearing about changes and updates from the TURA Program.

Session C:  Water Conservation in the Age of Climate Change

As our regional and global climate shifts, our companies and communities will continue to face new water resource challenges. Hear about the Massachusetts policies that influence water conservation decisions, how conserving water can impact wastewater pretreatment costs, examples of water conservation techniques companies have used in their alternative planning efforts, and best practices and tools available to help with those efforts.  (RC Water 1.5 credits)

Session D:  PFAS: What You Need To Know and Do

A group of PFAS was added to the TURA list through TRI for reporting year 2021, and a PFAS (NOL) category is planned to be added for reporting year 2022. This session will focus on tools to help you determine whether you will need to report on these substances as well as other program resources available to you.

Session E:  Metal Finishing and TUR Solutions

Metal finishing operations are chemically intensive and often subject to strict customer specifications, making it difficult to implement TUR solutions. In this session we will hear from experts from around the country discussing state-of-the art research and pollution prevention best practices for the metal finishing industry. These solutions can be applied to other industry sectors and should be of interest to all.

Fees: 

The TURA Program has approved a reduced fee for these webinars: $35 per session for TURA filers, and $50 per session for non-filers.

To pay by credit card, click on the fee that matches the number of sessions you are registering for and whether you are a filer (limited practice planner) or non-filer (general practice planner).

Cancellations: 

No cancellations or refunds are available for these sessions.

TUR Planner Credits:

MassDEP has approved these sessions for double credits. Each session is worth 3 TUR Planner continuing education credits. To earn the full 15 credits, participants must attend all five sessions. To receive credit, you MUST register, attend and participate in the session(s), and you must reply to the follow-up survey you will receive once the session has ended.  If you do not satisfy these criteria, MassDEP may not award you credit for that session.
