Spring Continuing Education Virtual Conference Sessions

In an effort to provide TUR Planners with toxics use reduction training opportunities, the TURA Program has created a series of five 90-minute virtual sessions for a total of up to 15 credits awarded. Session A: Keynote Presentation: the Intersection of Toxics Use Reduction and Environmental Justice

The Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs and MassDEP's renewed focus on environmental justice (EJ) may influence policies impacting Massachusetts companies. Keynote speaker Ana Mascareñas, Environmental Equity Deputy Director and Tribal Liaison at the California Department of Toxic Substances Control, will share her insight on the intersection of EJ and toxic chemical use and opportunities for companies to better engage with their workers and communities. The session will also include a brief discussion of current activities in the TURA program.

Session B:  TUR Planning and Regulations: Materials Accounting

Methods and tricks for conducting accurate and thorough materials accounting, including when doing integral recycling, will be explored. You will also hear from MassDEP staff about the associated regulations, with ample time for Q&A.

Session C:  Alternative Planning: It’s Worth Considering

This session focuses on demystifying and promoting the use of the alternative planning options available to companies that have completed at least three full TUR planning cycles. You will learn from company and TUR Planner peers about the business case for considering these options and their experiences implementing Resource Conservation plans and TURA Environmental Management Systems. (0.5 energy; 0.5 water; 0.5 solid waste = 1.5 RC Credits total)

Session D:  Practical Insights in EU REACH Implementation

Practical insights in alternative assessments driven by EU REACH: Elke Van Asbroeck of Apeiron Team, a consultancy in Belgium, will share insights from her experience working with EU companies to implement alternative assessments in REACH authorisation.  She will do this largely through the lens of companies using substances such as TCE or Cr(VI), looking at challenges and best practices. She will also discuss proposed EU chemicals policies that will likely impact MA company supply chains.

Session E:  Energy Saving Tools That Can Improve Your Conservation Success

John Raschko will kick off this session discussing the Massachusetts OTA’s energy conservation technical assistance efforts, including an update on the 2021 Mass Save energy efficiency incentives for commercial and industrial facilities. Emily Bolger from EPA Region 1 will be joined by representatives of Raytheon to describe Energy Star tools created to help companies succeed in their conservation efforts, including the Energy Star Treasure Hunt process. (1.5 RC Energy Credits)

The TURA Program has approved a reduced fee for these webinars: $35 per session for TURA filers, and $50 per session for non-filers.

To pay by credit card, click on the fee that matches the number of sessions you are registering for and whether you are a filer (limited practice planner) or non-filer (general practice planner).

Cancellations: 

No cancellations or refunds are available for these sessions.

TUR Planner Credits:

MassDEP has approved these sessions for double credits. Each session is worth 3 TUR Planner continuing education credits. To earn the full 15 credits, participants must attend all five sessions. To receive credit, you MUST register, attend and participate in the session(s), and you must reply to the follow-up survey you will receive once the session has ended.  If you do not satisfy these criteria, MassDEP may not award you credit for that session.
