TURPA MEETING TOPICS INCLUDE: Resource Conservation, EMS, and Toxics Use Reduction Success Stories

SPEAKER: Donald Alger, Environmental Coordinator, Allegro Microsystems, Inc. Don leads a 10-member TUR team dedicated to reduce the byproducts and emissions. In 1999, under Don's leadership, Allegro served as a Cleaner Technology Demonstration site, utilizing the opportunity to evaluate water conservation technology to reduce the use of expensive and hazardous water treatment chemicals - with an annual estimated savings of $275,000.

Alger was also an active participant, co-host and leader for the first Environmental Management System Peer Mentoring Workgroup in 2000, and then again in 2002. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Central Massachusetts Business Environmental Network.

And this past June, Don was recognized for his diligence when the Toxics Use Reduction Institute (TURI) honored him with a certificate of recognition for his toxics use reduction activities. He also received four citations from state legislators for his commitment to the environment.

COST: $35.00 for members and $40.00 for non-members (price includes: buffet meal).

CREDIT: Mass DEP has approved 2 TURP Recertification Credits.
