Session A:  Making Pre-Planning  Elements Integral to your Operations

This is a fundamentals session recommended for Limited Practice TUR Planners - Using the pre-planning components required in your TUR plan, Planners can help their companies embrace the value of year round attention to the process.  Discuss strategies for effectively engaging with staff, and building a culture of planning that helps your company succeed.

Session B: Working with your Supply Chain

In this global economy companies can be especially challenged by the limitations and resistance of their suppliers to provide products that minimize chemicals of concern.  Hear from a panel of companies who have developed strategies for communicating with and managing their supply chains to support more success in TUR at their facilities. The application of technology, including blockchain technology,  for managing your supply chain, will also be discussed.

12:45-2:15 - Concurrent Early Afternoon

Sessions C & D - Please Choose One

Session C: Water Conservation: An Opportunity Worth Exploring

Despite the option of doing resource conservation planning every other planning cycle, relatively few MA companies take advantage of this alternative to regular TUR Planning.  This session will explore the opportunities  - from conserving sanitary uses of water to redesigning process water systems - and the reasons for doing water conservation at your facility.  Hear from company and planner peers about their experiences and successes.

Note:  Planners will receive 0.75 RC credits for water conservation for attending Session C.

Session D: Identifying Safer Ingredients for Formulated Products

Formulated products can contain a wide range of potentially toxic chemicals as surfactants, solvents, antimicrobials, preservatives and other ingredients. Learn from experts about tools to help you identify safer ingredients to create safer products.

2:30-4:00 - Concurrent Late Afternoon

Sessions E & F - Please Choose One

Session E: Systems to Improve Process Efficiency

Businesses often use management or process improvement systems (e.g., lean, TURA EMS and other corporate programs) to achieve more consistent continuous improvement.  Companies using one or more of these systems will discuss their experiences applying them to TUR.

Session F:  Chemical Security and Climate Change

Did you know that toxics use reduction planning methods can make your facility more resilient to impacts of climate change and severe weather?  Learn about tools created by Mass Office of Technical Assistance (OTA) and efforts being led by other organizations to help identify chemical security hot spots and methods for addressing the associated concerns.  Please see OTA's new 4 minute video for a sneak preview.
