Independent Plating, a metal plating company, has reduced the use of cyanide compounds by 95%, hexavalent chromium compounds by 88%, and completely eliminated hydrofluoric acid.  They have also achieved significant reductions in acids, bases and other reportable metal compounds.  All of these reductions have resulted in an appreciable improvement in the overall health and safety of the plant.   Since the company uses safer trivalent chromium instead of hexavalent chromium for much of their product line, several of their customers are now able to qualify their products for green certification and LEED points.
