Session A: Alternatives Assessment Workshop - Session A and D are combined into an all day session. Both sessions are required.
Alternatives Assessment is an open-source framework for choosing safer chemical alternatives that focuses on finding optimum solutions instead of concentrating on risk. This day-long session will feature a hands-on case study using available tools for assessment and evaluation.
 

Session B: Nanomaterials: Workplace Health and Safety
Nanotechnology is rapidly finding utility in a growing breadth of products – from medicine to electronics to solar energy and beyond, where their many unique properties are enabling a plethora of technologies and products.  Unfortunately, the small size of nanoparticles makes them potentially very harmful to human health. This session focuses on workplace safety for this new industry.

Session C: Safer alternatives for building materials
The LEED standards, “stretch” building codes, and the accelerating concern for improved building energy efficiency are focusing much new attention on green building materials and construction methods.  This session will investigate some new alternatives for green building and construction material choices.

Session D: Session D is a continuation of Session A in the morning. Do not choose another afternoon session if you attended Session A.

Session E: RoHS and REACH updated

The EU RoHS Directive is being recast with new compliance require­ments, new substances, and new product types within its scope.  Moreover, other jurisdictions around the world are implementing RoHS-type laws.  REACH, meanwhile, continues to evolve as new chemicals are designated Substances of Very High Concern, and more chemical dossiers become available. This session will bring you up-to-date on these and similar legislative developments.
 

Session F: Pigments, Colorants, and Coatings
Pigments, colorants, and coatings have always been major industrial segments of concern to the TURA Program.  This technical session will feature case studies and new advances in TUR for these technologies.

We will confirm session selections with your conference confirmation. Attendance will be tracked to ensure that planners receive a certificate of completion for sessions attended.

Fees:
The registration fee includes conference materials, a continental breakfast, lunch and breaks. The full day fee for TURA filers is $200.00 and the fee for non-filers is $250.00. The half day fee is $125.00 and includes lunch. Make checks out to UMass Lowell.

Registration Deadline:
The registration deadline is November 2, 2011.

Cancellations:
Cancellations must be received by November 2, 2011. Cancellations by this date will receive a credit for the registration that may be used for a future training. There will be no credit given for cancellations after November 2, 2011.
