Finding Safer Substances that Work
TURI provides assistance to small community-based businesses and larger manufacturing facilities across Massachusetts to help them reduce toxic chemical use.
- Small businesses are those that provide services directly to consumers on a local level. These include dry cleaners, breweries, auto mechanic and body shops, bathtub refinishers and more. Find resources for small businesses.
- Manufacturing facilities are typically larger and report toxic chemical usage under the Toxics Use Reduction Act (TURA). Resources for these facilities can be found in our industry sectors section.
Morgan Advanced Materials, a manufacturer of ceramic feedthroughs for medical and aerospace industries, eliminated the use of TCE used in a vapor degreaser. The company used TURI Lab services to test the effectiveness of safer solutions.
