Combat the Coronavirus and Protect Health by Using Products with Safer Active Ingredients

Many of the disinfecting product choices available on the market use chemicals such as bleach, phenols or quaternary ammonium compounds, often referred to as quats, that can adversely impact human and environmental health.

EPA’s List N provides information on disinfection products that meet EPA’s criteria for effectiveness against COVID-19, many of which contain these chemicals of concern. TURI’s Laboratory Director reviewed the List N and identified a subset of products that do not contain these or other chemicals of concern.
