Background:

Info on your major and what it focuses on?

My major focuses on the safety and prevention of illness and injury within the workplace. We learn to recognize, evaluate, control, and prevent chemical, physical, biological, and psychosocial hazards in the work environment. We also learn to diagnose exposure problems, develop sampling strategies, and collect and measure samples to diagnose environmental risk factors that threaten worker health and safety.  The major also educates us on designing and implementing sustainable production systems.

What you have learned so far at TURI Lab?

I have learned to take lead on projects and develop standard procedures. My organic chemistry knowledge has flourished and been applied to toxicology methods of chemical hazard assessments.

What are your plans for after graduation?

I was recently hired as the Program Manager for Beyond Benign’s higher education program called The Green Chemistry Commitment. I am hoping to go full time at Beyond Benign once I am finished my masters. I am also looking into applying to an online Masters Toxicology program and go part time. I would love a Ph.D., but right now I want to focus on my working with this wonderful program.
