Semesters at TURI Lab: 3

Chemical engineering, my major, is a wide field that applies to many different industries. Chemical engineers employ their knowledge of chemistry, physics, and math to solve a variety of problems that face us today.

Through my involvement with TURI, I’ve learned many methods industries use to clean contaminants off surfaces, more about green chemistry and safe use of chemicals, and many ways programming can be applied to the fields of green chemistry, chemical engineering, and chemistry.

My main aim for an after graduation job is something in research and development, although I have not figured out which specific field I wish to go into yet.

Projects Worked On in the Lab/ Current Projects: Vapor degreasing for Honeywell. I developed a method to prepare several contaminants for iRobot testing. I assisted in the updating of P2OASys. I managed the inventory database by imputing new chemicals. I’m currently updating the Cleaner Solutions database.
Favorite Part of Working at TURI: The variety of tasks makes every day interesting and has allowed me to develop skills in several different areas.
Past Jobs: Dunkin Donuts

Skills Learned at TURI Lab:

  • Professional report writing
  • Lab testing and reading SOP/SDS
  • Java
  • P2OASys and HSPIP
