Bat House Build & Installation on the Rail Trail

Project Details

Year: 2017
Location: Topsfield
Project Manager: Thomas Lebel
Partners: Boyscout Troop 81, Rail Trail Committee

To use bats (a natural predator for insects like mosquitos) by building and installing bat houses on the Topsfield section of the rail trail. This in turn should lower the need for pesticides when bats are eating away at the population of mosquitos.

Twelve bat houses were installed.  The houses were painted to identify their function of chemical reduction to bring awareness to the community.
