WEEE and RoHS Directives

Major European regulations are:

  1. End of Life Vehicle (ELV) Directive 2000/53/EC
  2. The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and the Restrictions on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directives
  3. The original Dangerous Substances (Directive 76/769/EEC of 27 July 1976, Restrictions on the Marketing and Use of Certain Dangerous Substances and Preparations) Directive, now replaced by Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation of CHemicals (REACH) Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006.

Of these, the major drivers for the electronics industry and all of its suppliers are the WEEE (Directive 2002/96/EC) and RoHS (Directive 2002/95/EC) Directives.
