Siemens Healthineers collaborated with UMass Lowell researchers to find a safer surfactant for diagnostic devices. TURI awarded a grant to UML researchers to partner with Siemens on the project.
Lytron Reduces TCE Emissions by 6,000 Pounds
Lytron of Woburn, Mass. received a grant a TURI Industry Grant to reduce the use of TCE. The company also used TURI's cleaning laboratory testing services to evaluate the effectiveness of solutions that worked in a vacuum degreaser to remove lubricating oils from aluminum flat and fin parts.
Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School Replaces Solvents with Safer Solutions
Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School of Marlborough, Mass., received two TURI Small Business Grants from TURI to reduce the use of solvents in the auto repair and collision shops. The auto collision shop is now using a water-based paint gun cleaner and the auto repair shop is using a bio-based system for cleaning parts. Both products eliminated the use of solvents.
UMass Lowell Researchers Find Safer Solutions to Eliminate Toxic Solvents
UMass Lowell and TURI researchers have found safer alternatives to toxic solvents for industry partners. The applications include paint stripping products and contact adhesives. The safer paint stripping product Super Remover is now on store shelves.
