Making Communities Safer & Healthier
Community Grants are available for community organizations and municipal departments to create and promote healthier communities by implementing toxics use reduction projects and educating people about safer alternatives. We currently have two Request for Proposals (RFPs) available for projects that address:

Flame retardants in child gyms and other play spaces.
Flame retardants in child gyms and other play spaces. TURI is working to enable a broader reduction in the use of toxic chemicals where children play. Of particular interest is supporting organizations that can help enable a broad transition to foam cubes and padding free of toxic flame-retardants in gyms.

Identifying PFAS (also known as “forever chemicals”) in products used and sold in Massachusetts.
This grant will support non-profit organizations, small businesses and municipalities by testing for the presence of PFAS substances and providing information about safer alternatives where needed.
