Nail and Hair Salons
Workers in salons use, and are exposed to, a variety of potentially harmful chemicals. These include solvents, toluene, acrylates, adhesives, phthalates and formaldehyde. Often salons are poorly ventilated, increasing the concentration of chemicals in the air.
TURI provides resources for cosmetology workers and salon owners that explain the hazards of the materials they use, and helps them find safer alternatives.
