Toxics Use Reduction (TUR) Planner Certification Course

TURI provides in-depth courses for students and professionals on Toxics Use Reduction (TUR), Resource Conservation and Environmental Management Systems. Although these trainings were developed to educate professionals seeking certification in Massachusetts, anyone interested in gaining skills and experience in pollution prevention or TUR would benefit from attending.
TUR Planner Certification Course
The Toxics Use Reduction Planner certification course (TUR Planner course) is offered each year in late summer through the end of October. It begins with a 6-week self-paced online course, which thoroughly covers the theory and regulations associated with TUR planning. Current TUR planners can attend the online course as a refresher and receive up to 20 CEUs.
After successful completion of the online portion, participants gather in person for four day-long classes to put the theory to practice. Participants learn directly from veteran TUR planners about best practices and work together on a practicum based on a real manufacturing operation.
Once the course is complete, eligible professionals can take the TUR Planner certification exam and/or apply directly to MassDEP for certification as a limited practice TUR planner. Click here to see the eligibility criteria associated with becoming a certified TUR planner in Massachusetts.
